Lanterna magica

A unique alliance of light and exceptional mastery in glass crafting, the Lumière de Verre is part of the historical and cultural tradition of the magic lantern.

Originated in the 17th century, the magic lantern is claimed in the oldest myths and legends. A device combining an optical system with a heat/light source allows an image to be projected through a stained glass slide.

The process was progressively improved and further developed throughout the 19th century. Those improvements ultimately gave birth to cinema.

The overhead projector, late  ancestor of our 17th century lantern,   will eventually come back in the 20th century in its original essence. It was found in every school, university and companies, all around the world. Progressively wiped out by a cold digital revolution, we witness today its resurrection through artistic production.

Lumière de Verre is a continuation of this legacy.
